Hi, I’m Tim - a Coach who believes courage grows in small steps.

I didn’t grow up athletic.

I wasn’t the kid who won races or loved PE.

I was the one at the back, counting down the minutes until it was over.

Running felt like a punishment, not something meant for people like me.

Where I started

By 2016, things had reached a turning point. I weighed 22.5 stone. My physical health was suffering, and my mental health was unravelling. I felt stressed, depressed and stuck - and even the idea of running (or any form of exercise) felt impossibly out of reach.

Then a few friends dragged me to a parkrun.

I didn’t want to go. I was terrified.

I was convinced I would come last, that everyone would be looking at me and would judge me. I didn’t belong there.

But that reluctant morning quietly changed everything.

I walked, jogged, struggled… And finished. It wasn’t fast or pretty - there was no Hollywood moment. But it gave me something I hadn’t felt in a long time:

Maybe things could change.

The Journey Forward

Small Steps. Slow Progress. Real Transformation.

I kept going - I made lots of mistakes, but learning from them - how to breathe, how to pace myself, how to run slowly without shame. My physical health improved. My stress eased. My confidence grew and my mental wellbeing lifted.

And somewhere along the way, something unexpected happened:

I started to fall in love with running.

Not for speed or for competition, but for what it gave me - space, progress, resilience, and a version of myself I had never met before.

Since then, I’ve run multiple marathons, ultramarathons, and I’ve coached hundreds of runners - from Couch to ultra distance - and everything in between.

Why I Coach

Helping People believe in themselves - one step at a time.

Here is the part that matters the most to me:

I care just as much about helping brand new runners take their first steps, as I do about helping existing runners grow stronger, run smarter, and unlock improvements they never thought possible.

Whether you are taking your very first jog or chasing a new PB, you deserve support that meets you exactly where you are.

That’s why I became a Coach.

Who I work with

I help people who:

  • Think running is out of reach for them

  • Are returning after a time away

  • Struggle with confidence

  • Worry about judgement or pace

  • Want to feel better, stronger, braver

  • Need structure that fits real life

  • Find encouragement helpful

  • Want a Coach who understands fear, doubt and starting again

  • Want to improve their running, whatever their current level

Because I’ve been there. I remember exactly how it feels.

My Coaching Style

No judgement. No pressure. Just support that meets you where you are now.

I coach with kindness, structure and steady encouragement:

  • Practical guidance

  • Realistic plans for real lives

  • Accountability that feels supportive, never stressful

  • Confidence building as much as fitness

  • A focus on joy, progress and resilience, not perfection

My goal is simple:

To help you move toward the strongest, bravest version of yourself.

I’m a qualified England Athletics running coach, with experience supporting both beginners and regular runners. Full details can be found in my policies and qualifications.
