A Coaching Story
When this runner first came to me, they were already experienced — having completed several half marathons and marathons — but progress had stalled and motivation was starting to fade.
Despite consistent training, runs were beginning to feel harder, and fatigue was building. Together, we stepped back and looked beyond a single goal, focusing instead on balance: introducing clearer structure, purposeful easy running, and proper recovery alongside harder sessions.
A key part of the process was learning to trust easier running and listen more closely to the body. Training was reviewed regularly and adapted week by week, shaped around real life as well as performance.
Within a few weeks, consistency returned. Confidence followed. And over time, that balance translated into stronger racing — not by pushing harder, but by arriving better prepared and less worn down.
In a familiar half marathon that had previously been a struggle, they finished feeling strong and in control, with the clearest improvement being how they felt in the final miles.
